4 things to know about the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality's ambulatory surgery safety program

The Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality launched its Safety Program for Ambulatory Surgery to enhance communication, teamwork and quality in ASCs.

Here are four things to know about the program:

1. The program includes a nine-month endoscopy collaborative in which participants will learn about various processes for improving patient safety and quality.

2. Participants will learn about infection prevention training related to endoscope cleaning/sterilization as well as how to lower sedation harms and how to make their own surgical safety checklist.

3. ASCs can network with other industry professionals during the program.

4. The Health Research and Educational Trust, an American Hospital Association, is leading the program with the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association and ASC Quality Collaboration.
