HaysMed becomes sole owner of Kansas ASC — 5 key notes

Hays (Kan.) Medical Center bought Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health's shares in the Great Bend, Kan.-based St. Rose Health Center, Hutch News reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. Hays is now the sole owner of St. Rose Health Center, an ASC.

2. The purchase also includes land surrounding St. Rose. HaysMed CEO John Jeter, MD, said in a release the company is debating its next steps with the property, weighing a future expansion.

3. Centura Health took over the ASC's operations in November 2012 as part of a joint partnership. Hays Medical joined the deal in January 2015 as a managing partner.

4. Through that agreement, Centura and Hays Medical reduced the center from 240,000-square-feet to approximately 30,000-square-feet. The companies demolished the former five-story Central Kansas Medical Center.

5. Hays Medical plans to increase physician recruitment efforts.
