American Cancer Society awards community health centers $500k to increase CRC screening — 3 key notes

The American Cancer Society awarded five community health centers $100,000 in grants to increase colorectal cancer screenings in American Indian and Alaska Native populations.

Here's what you should know:

1. The grants were awarded through the Community Health Advocates implementing Nationwide Grants for Empowerment and Equity program.

2. ACS awarded the grants to the following organizations:

  • The Arctic Slope Native Association
  • Fond du Lac Services Division
  • Keweenaw Bay Indian Community
  • Native Americans for Community Action
  • Riverside San Bernardino County Indian Health

3. The American Cancer Society has received $21.8 million to fund this grant program since its inception in 2011. The Society has awarded around 524 grants to date.
