Job Opening: Director, Managed Care for Surgical Care Affiliates

Job Summary:
The position will enable SCA to achieve earnings growth by partnering with operations leaders to set and execute a strategy that combines payer contracting efforts with case mix, targeted volume growth initiatives, and strategic acquisitions.  

Key Responsibilities:

•    Aid in Managed Care Rate Growth:  Teammate will achieve growth on the defined regions managed care revenue by direct contracting and supporting the efforts of our health system partners.  The teammate will partner with the Sr. Director of Managed Care to provide strategic direction to the Operations team around reimbursement, fee schedule management, and growth of ASCs.  In addition, they will proactively pursue innovative payment strategies for the top payors within the defined portfolio.   
•    Enable Strategic Acquisitions: Teammate will partner with Development and Operations to identify suitable tuck-in, denovo, and acquisition opportunities and lead rate analysis to ensure clear understanding of contracting impact (rate changes and timing) on pro-formas.
•    Develop Differentiated Payer Relationships:  Teammate will become viewed by payers as a problem solver who they want to call.  The teammate will requires a natural presence as a leader who is able to actively read an audience and make the complex sale not just of the value proposition of ASCs but of innovative payment methodologies that require the payer to try something new.
•    Enable Organizational Alignment to Grow Revenue:  The teammate will actively take ownership for overall rate growth through an active communication strategy that will typically include participation in monthly operating reviews, presentations to physician partners, engaging Sales to develop physician recruiting plans, partnering with Revenue Cycle to resolve contractual issues impacting collections, etc.
•    Accurate, timely and actionable growth metrics and reporting:  Teammate will deliver metrics / reporting package to SCA’s Operations and Finance Teams to ensure teammates responsible for revenue and volume growth are clear about the trends and opportunities to increase profitable case volume.

Requirements:

•    Travel to payor meetings, company meetings, center visits, etc. (30%)
•    Extensive knowledge of payor contracting and payment systems
•    Understanding of the basic operation of an ASC
•    Understanding of ASC profit and loss statement
•    Ability to heavily leverage data but also translate into understandable action plans for Field Operations

Total education, vocational training and experience:

•    College Degree
•    Healthcare and ASC operations experience a plus
•    5+ years payor contracting/reimbursement experience
