Job Opening: Regional Vice President of Surgical Care Affiliates

Overall Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations for the Northeast, the Regional Vice President (RVP) will have full P&L responsibility for a critical region of Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA). SCA is an industry-leading, $1.6 billion (revenues), privately-held surgical services company with a network of approximately 175 outpatient surgery centers.

The successful candidate is responsible for all aspects of the region including, but not limited to:

•    Consistently growing region by 12 percent-plus CAGR by
o    growing earnings in same stores annually by a minimum of 6 percent through leading profitable top-line growth and effectively managing expenses, and
o    growing earnings through acquisitions annually by a minimum of 5 percent.
•    Transforming SCA's position in the market to achieve and sustain competitive advantage,
•    Establishing, maintaining and deepening relationships with health system partners,
•    Creating, implementing and sharing operating processes which drive efficiency and operational performance,
•    Hiring and developing A-Players, and
•    At all times representing SCA as an enterprise leader.

Specific Duties:

It is expected that the Regional Vice President will focus on the following responsibilities:

•    Working closely with the Senior Vice President and other senior executives and facility leaders to develop and drive growth strategies at a regional and individual market level.
•    Fostering an environment which stimulates high energy, fast-paced change, open communication, creativity, and engenders a team spirit in solving problems and identifying and capturing new business opportunities.
•    Managing all strategic and day-to-day operational aspects of the region.
•    Developing and implementing facility-level marketing strategies to effectively differentiate the facilities from competitors in order to optimize growth and market share.
•    Driving organizational capability by building a highly committed and capable management team at each facility; coaching and mentoring incumbents and recruiting and developing additional talent as needed. Provide teammates with the authority, accountability, training, information and resources to achieve their full potential in running their individual multi-million dollar profit centers.
•    Serving as the spokesperson and senior executive presence in the region, both internally within the organization, as well as with external constituencies, including the physician community and other key referral sources at the market level.
•    Working closely with the SCA Business Development Team and other senior executives to identify and pull through of acquisitions and joint venture partnerships on a market, regional, and national basis.

Qualifications:    

•    A minimum of seven to 10 years managing a multi-site distributed healthcare operation on a regional and/or local basis.
•    Prior or current experience as a corporate or regional-based operations executive with demonstrated operating discipline and success in a high-growth, rapidly changing environment.
•    Consistent success in and a passion for driving earnings growth through recruiting new physician relationships, developing existing physician relationships, building and developing a sales and marketing organization, identifying and capitalizing on creative solutions to growth challenges.
•    Experience managing health system relationships.
•    Proven operations experience with a well-developed analytical performance improvement mindset and a disciplined process orientation.
•    A strong track record of developing and executing strategic and operational plans with an eye towards incorporating innovative approaches and capitalizing on unique opportunities.
•    Exceptional skills in identifying, recruiting, developing, retaining and motivating strong management teams.

Education:    

An undergraduate degree is required. Additional education such as Masters-level studies in business and/or healthcare administration is desirable, but not required.
