Seaside Surgery Center on Aug. 24 will host U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., for a tour of the facility and a chance to see the center's endoscopic surgery technology in action, the practice said Aug. 9.
While on the visit, Mr. Donalds will meet with the co-founders of the Naples, Fla.-based ASC, Robert J. Zehr, MD, and H. Kurtis Biggs, MD, observe demonstrations of the facility's surgical technology and possibly perform his own endoscopic surgery — removing a peanut from inside a red pepper, a hands-on exercise the center began offering five years ago, according to a news release.
The multispecialty ASC invited the congressman to Seaside as part of a Tenet Healthcare program that hosts representatives for visits at ASCs in their congressional districts.
Physician-owned Seaside has performed almost 10,000 surgeries since its opening, and it was the first ASC in Southwest Florida to offer same-day outpatient total joint replacement procedures, the release said.
