3 things to know about nurse burnout

The impact of burned out nurses spreads to an overall hospital or health system, according to a report from PRC.

PRC surveyed 1,923 registered nurses across 37 hospitals to generate the report.

The key details to know:

1. Half of nurses who report feeling burned out don't have any plans to leave their organizations.

2. Nurses are physically clocking in, but are emotionally "clocked out," the report said. Over 15 percent of all nurses reported feeling burned out.

3. Among unengaged nurses, or those who do the bare minimum on the job, the burnout rate is 41 percent.
