Missouri surgery center earns ASGE designation

The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy recognized Lee's Summit, Mo.-based Midwest Physicians Surgery Center through its ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program, the Lee's Summit Tribune reported Jan. 26.

The surgery center received the honor for its commitment to patient safety and quality. The program created a guideline that takes several elements into account, like privileging, quality assurance, endoscope reprocessing, CDC infection control guidelines and staff competency.

Heather Farmer, RN, center clinical director, said: "We are honored to be recognized by ASGE for our efforts to enhance quality and safety in our endoscopy unit. Through ongoing education we demonstrate our dedication to the delivery of high-quality patient care."
