Traci Albers (North Ambulatory Surgery Center & High Pointe Surgery Center, Minn.).
Ms. Albers is administrator of North Ambulatory Surgery Center and High Point Surgery Center in Minnesota. She has more than 15 years of ASC and healthcare management experience, and has served as administrator at Surgical Management Professionals-affiliated ASCs since 2002. Her previous experience includes marketing and hospital operations. High Pointe Surgery Center is a physician-hospital joint venture.

Jenny Bloebaum, RN, CNOR (Texas Orthopedics Surgery Center in Flower Mound, Texas).
Ms. Bloebaum is administrator of Texas Orthopedics Surgery Center, a joint venture among Texas Health Resources, Texas Orthopaedic Associates and Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA). In addition to orthopedics, the facility also hosts thousands of spine and pain management procedures annually. Ms. Bloebaum assumed her current responsibilities in 2005 with more than 20 years of nursing experience in orthopedics. "This is a state-of-the-art orthopedic surgery facility we have in Flower Mound," she said. "And I am extremely proud to assist SCA and our physicians partners in providing our community and surrounding areas with affordable, quality healthcare."

Dean Brown (The Orthopaedic Center at Springhill in Mobile, Ala.).
Mr. Brown has served as the CEO of Alabama Orthopaedic Clinic, a group of 20 orthopedic specialists in Mobile, for the past 11 years. For the past six years, has had a dual role as the administrator for The Orthopaedic Center at Springhill. In 2003, Mr. Brown assisted his group with negotiations for a joint venture with one of their local hospitals in the development of a 78,000-square-foot orthopedic center that included a 17,000-square-foot ASC — a 50/50 partnership between physicians and the hospital. The two entities employ over 300 people, and the facility is AAAHC-accredited and has been since its first year of operation in 2004. Over 6,000 cases are performed at The Orthopaedic Center annually.

Ron Bullen (Moreland Surgery Center in Waukesha, Wis.).
Mr. Bullen is a 23-year Major retired from the U.S. Army. He owns his own consulting business and manages a medical services outsourcing company in addition to running his seven-OR multispecialty ASC. Mr. Bullen was instrumental in forming and developing the current joint-venture ASC entity, which has been in operation for two years and has performed well above the industry mean financially. Taking the preoperative process online with SourcePlus Passport helped the entity to achieve strong patient satisfaction scores, high quality outcomes and increased surgeon and employee satisfaction, which translates into financial success, according to Mr. Bullen.

Nancy Calhoun (Roanoke Ambulatory Surgery Center, Roanoke, Va.).
Ms. Calhoun is the administrator of Roanoke Ambulatory Surgery Center, affiliated with ASD Management since 2004. The ASC is a joint venture 50 percent owned by Carilion Clinic, and includes physician owners who are also employed by a corporation that owns Carilion Roankoe Memorial Hospital. Ms. Calhoun spent 21 years as a nurse with various roles at a hospital before becoming administrator at this surgery center.

Mary Ann Cooney, RN, CASC (Riverside Outpatient Surgery Center, Columbus, Ohio).
Ms. Cooney is the administrator of Riverside Outpatient Surgery Center in Columbus, Ohio, a multispecialty facility with six ORs and one minor procedure room. ROSC performs over 6,000 cases per year. The specialties at the facility, which is currently managed by Health Inventures, include general surgery, gynecology, hand orthopedics, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management, plastic surgery and urology. The surgery center became a joint venture with OhioHealth and physicians in 1997.

Steve Corl (Mackinaw Surgery Center, Saginaw, Mich.).
Mr. Corl is the administrator and director of nursing at Mackinaw Surgery Center, a position he has held since February of 2007. Mr. Corl is also the second vice president of the Michigan Ambulatory Surgery Association, and sits on the Association's board. Mackinaw Surgery Center is a 16,000-square-foot facility joint venture between physicians, Covenant Hospital and Nueterra Healthcare. The ASC includes four operating rooms and three procedure rooms.

Todd Currier (Northern Wyoming Surgical Center, Cody).
Mr. Currier is the administrator of the Northern Wyoming Surgical Center and was the first president of the Wyoming Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, which began in 2011. Northern Wyoming Surgical Center has provided care for the community for more than 10 years and has two operating rooms as well as 23-hour stay capabilities. The ASC also has a procedure room for pain management and gastroenterology procedures. Additional specialties at the ASC include orthopedics, spine, general surgery, urology and ophthalmology.

Brenda Cyrulik (Eastland Medical Plaza Surgicenter in Bloomington, Ill.).
Ms. Cyrulik is the administrator at the Eastland Medical Plaza Surgicenter in Bloomington, Ill., a joint venture between St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington and 26 physician-investors. The center opened in 2001 and has four ORs dedicated to multispecialty surgery and four procedure rooms dedicated to endoscopy and pain management. The center performs an average of 7,200 procedures annually. Ms. Cyrulik has been at Eastland since 1999, when the center was fully owned by St. Joseph. Prior to coming to Eastland, she served as a surgery manager at BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, Ill., and worked for two years as a circulating staff nurse at Gailey Eye Surgicenter in Bloomington, Ill.

Jeanel Darity (Physicians Surgery Center at DePaul, Bridgeton, Mo.).
Ms. Darity is the administrator of Physicians Surgery Center at DePaul, a joint venture with SSM Health Care and Nueterra. She has held this position at the 12,000-square-foot ASC for nearly seven years. The surgery center was a 2012 winner of the CTQ Apex Quality Award and is equipped for several procedures, including ENT, endoscopy, gynecology, plastic surgery and orthopedics. The surgery center has three operating rooms and is an accredited Bariatric Center of Excellence.  

Joseph DeMarco (Jefferson Surgical Center at the Navy Yard, Philadelphia).
Mr. DeMarco is the administrator at Jefferson Surgical Center at the Navy Yard. The ASC was developed by Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Rothman Institute and Nueterra. It includes four operating rooms and one procedure room, with specialties such as hand surgery, orthopedic surgery, pain management and plastic surgery. The center is located in the Jefferson at the Navy Yard facility, a "green" facility.

Christopher Doyle (Riddle Surgical Center, Media, Pa.).
Mr. Doyle is the administrator of the 17,500-square-foot Riddle Surgical Center, a joint venture partnership between Rothman Institute, Mainline Health and Nueterra. He has held the position since April 2011, overseeing all activities for staff members, business office directions and recruiting additional medical staff. The four-operating room facility offers orthopedic surgery through Rothman Institute physicians in addition to ENT, ophthalmology, gastroenterology and pain management. Mr. Doyle previously served as the director of operations at Fresenius Medical Care.

Terri Gatton, RN (Andrews Institute ASC, Gulf Breeze, Fla.).
Ms. Gatton has been the administrator of Andrews Institute ASC for six years. The ASC is a joint venture between physician investors and Baptist Healthcare. During her career, she was instrumental in setting the foundation for the center, which opened in 2007, and has guided the ASC through several successful accreditation surveys. Additionally, under her leadership, more than eight employees have returned to higher education through the ASC's tuition reimbursement program. The ASC is affiliated with Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, the practice of James Andrews, MD, an orthopedic sports medicine physician who has treated several high-profile professional athletes and been president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

Janet Gordon (St. Luke's Surgicenter, Lee's Summit, Mo.).
Ms. Gordon became the administrator of Saint Luke's Surgicenter in July 2010, a for-profit joint venture between Saint Luke's Health System, Nueterra and multiple community physician-investors. In this role, Ms. Gordon is responsible for ASC operations, supporting goals and objectives, coordinating facility and employee supervision and ensuring safety and security for quality care. Previously, Ms. Gordon spent time as a manager and consultant of healthcare services for CBIZ MHM and executive director/CFO for ENT Associates of Greater Kansas City. The ASC is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and includes three operating rooms and two procedure rooms. Specialties at the center include ophthalmology, gynecology, general surgery, urology and pain management.

Dorothy Geiger (Central Piedmont Surgery Center, Asheboro, N.C.).
Ms. Greiger is the administrator at Central Piedmont Surgery Center, a 7,000-square-foot facility with two operating rooms. The ASC includes general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, gynecology, urology and podiatry, among other procedures. The center, which is a joint venture with Randolph Hospital, local surgeons and Nueterra, opened in 2011 and includes 20 physicians performing cases there.

Judi Green, RN (San Francisco Endoscopy Center).
Ms. Green is the administrator of San Francisco Endoscopy Center, a joint venture ASC with Surgical Care Affiliates and California Pacific Medical Center (a Sutter Health affiliate). This single-specialty GI center in San Francisco provides services to over 7,500 patients annually. Ms. Green joined the San Francisco Endoscopy Center in September 2004 as a staff nurse. Since then, she has served in numerous capacities, such as the clinical lead nurse. She was recently appointed by the governing body to the role of administrator. Ms. Green is a dedicated coach and mentor to the members of her staff and is an excellent example of "walking the walk and talking the talk." Her "new grad" orientation program recently gained attention for the creative ways it introduces teammates to the center. Her ability to juggle this task with the other demands of the ASC is a skill Ms. Green attributes to her management company. "SCA encourages and expects administrators to know all functions of the center, and provides the tools and support to achieve this," she says. "I believe you cannot be a top administrator if you are unable to relate to the work that is required of your teammates."

Debbie Hall (Cheyenne Surgical Center, Cheyenne, Wyo.).
Ms. Hall is the administrator of Cheyenne Surgical Center, a joint venture between seven physician owners and Regent Surgical Health, with hospital partner Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. The multispecialty ASC includes spine surgery, general surgery, ENT, orthopedics and pain management.

Tom Holecek (Palos Surgicenter, Palos Heights, Ill.).
Mr. Holecek is the administrator at Palos Surgicenter, a joint venture between physician owners, Regent Surgical Health and Palos Community Hospital. The three-OR facility includes gastroenterology, pain management, orthopedics and ophthalmology. After becoming a partner in the joint venture, Regent assisted in turning the center around to return physician investment in seven moths and the facility underwent a $2 million expansion in 2010 to add two procedure rooms to accommodate growth. Net value of shares also increased 100 percent in 18 months after Regent joined.

Karen Howey (Beaumont Macomb Township ASC, Macomb, Mich.).
For the past year, Ms. Howey has been the administrator and CEO at Macomb Township ASC. She previously served as the administrator and CEO for Matrix Surgery Center for more than six years. The ASC is affiliated with Nueterra and Beaumont Health System. The facility has two operating rooms, and services include gastroenterology, general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, ENT, pain management and plastic surgery.

David Kelly, MBA, CASC (Samaritan North Surgery Center in Dayton, Ohio).
Mr. Kelly was employed by Miami Valley Hospital, a member of Premier Health Partners, in Dayton, Ohio, prior to becoming administrator of Samaritan North Surgery Center in Dayton in late 2006. The ASC is a joint venture between Good Samaritan Hospital and local physicians and is managed by Health Inventures. He led changes in the pre-admission screening process led to the reduction in hospital transfers by 18 percent without turning more patients away.

Joy Kurosaka, RN (Rancho Bernado Surgery Center, San Diego).
Ms. Kurosaka is administrator of Rancho Bernado Surgery Center, a multispecialty partnership among local physicians, Palomar Health and Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA). Founded more than 15 years ago, the facility cares for nearly 5,000 patients annually maintaining high levels of both patient care and teammate/physician satisfaction. "I have the distinct pleasure of leading a dedicated group of very high performing teammates here at Rancho Bernado who make my role as administrator a delight," says Ms. Kurosaka. "Our passion is only multiplied by the overwhelming support of SCA. They share our desire to be the partner of choice for patients and physicians in our community, and together we will continue to go the extra mile to put clinical first and provide the highest level of affordable care in the area."

Mary Lee Fortin (St. Luke's South Surgery Center, Overland Park, Kan.).
Ms. Fortin has been the administrator of St. Luke's South Surgery Center since 2007. The ASC includes outpatient ENT procedures, gynecology, pain management, urology, plastic and reconstructive surgery and general surgery. The surgery center is a joint venture with Saint Luke's South Hospital in Saint Luke's Health System, and includes Nueterra as a partner.

Kathy Leibl (Blue Ridge Surgery Center, Raleigh, N.C.).
Mrs. Leibl is the administrator of Blue Ridge Surgery Center, a joint venture among Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA) and 39 Physician partners. She served the facility for nearly 16 years in a variety of capacities before being appointed to administrator in 2008. Blue Ridge has experienced steady growth and profitability throughout her tenure and currently provides services to nearly 10,000 patients annually. Mrs. Leibl's motto is "always can do," which is exemplified by her fellow teammates and the facility's physicians. "All of us here at Blue Ridge live by the values set forth by SCA," she says. "Clinical quality, service excellence and continuous improvement are all hallmarks of the care we provide to our patients." Mrs. Leibl also credits her record of encouraging staff and physician satisfaction for the facility's positive atmosphere and continued success.

Lori Martin, RN (Summit Surgery Center at Saint Mary's Galena, Reno, Nev.).
Ms. Martin is the administrator at Summit Surgery Center, a joint venture between physician owners, Regent Surgical Health and Prime Healthcare. Ms. Martin has been the administrator since 2009 and was an integral part of the opening of the center. She has been secretary of the Nevada Ambulatory Surgery Center Association. The ASC includes 23-hour stay capabilities and is accredited by AAAHC.

David Moody, RN (Knightsbridge Surgery Center, Columbus, Ohio).
Mr. Moody arrived at Knightsbridge Surgery Center three months after Regent Surgical Health took over the facility in 2004. KSC is a multispecialty center that performs urology, general surgery, gynecology, plastics, pain, colorectal and neurosurgery procedures. Four years ago, the center entered into a partnership with the OhioHealth hospital system, which currently holds a 49 percent ownership stake in KSC. He says both partnerships have resulted in tremendous benefits for the center. Regent helped turn the center around into a state of profitability and top patient care, while OhioHealth assisted in achieving a predictable cash flow and cost-savings opportunities.

Lawrence J. Parrish (Illinois Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery Center, Morton Grove).
As administrator of Illinois Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery Center, Mr. Parrish implemented a program that achieves significant cost reductions — $80,000 in the first year — without compromising quality of care or surgeon satisfaction. The initiative focused on surgical devices and worked with an FDA-approved reprocessing company with a stringent quality assurance program. Mr. Parrish has held this position for seven years. The surgery center includes orthopedics, ENT and pain management.

Brandie Price (Green Street Surgery Center, Columbus, Ohio).
Ms. Price is the administrator at Green Street Surgery Center, a joint venture between physicians and Mount Carmel Health System, and affiliated with Blue Chip Surgical Center Partners. The ASC includes four operating rooms and two treatment rooms with specialists from orthopedics, urology, gastroenterology and gynecology.

Peggy Rhoads, RN, BSN (Fort Worth Surgery Center, Fort Worth, Texas).
A former OR Nurse and Director of Nursing, Ms. Rhoads has served as administrator for Fort Worth Surgery Center for more than eight years. Now a joint venture among Texas Health Resources, local physicians and Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA), the facility opened in 1983 and was the first ASC in the area. Together with her teammates, Ms. Rhoads is responsible for the successful operation of seven ORs hosting more than 6,500 procedures annually. Cases performed at this multispecialty facility include ophthalmologic, orthopedic, plastic, GYN, pain management, podiatric and general surgery. "I am proud to lead such a values-based facility," Ms. Rhoads says. "SCA's mission is to improve healthcare in America and our teammates and physicians take that mission very seriously." Under her leadership, the facility will celebrate its 30th year in operation in October 2013.

Mary Ellen Rider (Maryville Surgical Center, Maryville, Tenn.).
Ms. Rider is the administrator at Maryville Surgical Center, which has been in existence for more than 10 years. The facility includes four operating rooms where surgeons perform a variety of procedures, including general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics and urology. It is a joint venture between area physicians, Blount Memorial Hospital and Nueterra Healthcare. The ASC is accredited by the Joint Commission and was the first surgery center in Maryville.

Anne Roberts, RN (Surgery Center of Reno, Reno, Nev.).
Ms. Roberts is the administrator at Surgery Center of Reno, a joint venture between physician owners, Regent Surgical Health and Prime Healthcare. She joined the center in 2006 when it opened and became administrator nine months later. Her experience includes 16 years as a staff nurse and 10 years as a manager of a busy emergency department. Specialties at the center include spine surgery, ophthalmology, ENT and general surgery. She works closely with James Lynch, MD, chairman of the board of directors, and medical director Dan Sorenson, MD.

Tona Savoie (Bayou Region Surgical Center, Thibodaux, La.).
Ms. Savoie is the administrative director of Bayou Region Surgical Center, a 50-50 partnership between physician investors and a subsidiary of Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. The ASC, opened in 2007, is managed by ASD Management. Her previous experience includes serving as a circulator for a large hospital and OR coordinator at an ASC. The ASC includes ENT, neurology, orthopedics, gastroenterology and pain management.

James Kamps, RN, MBA, CNOR (Surgery Center at Tanasbourne, Hillsboro, Ore.).
Mr. Kamps is the administrator of Surgery Center at Tanasbourne, a position he's held since August 2012. He previously served as administrator at Wilshire Surgery Center and a charge nurse at Providence Hospital. The multispecialty surgery center is a collaboration between physicians, Providence Health & Services and Blue Chip Surgical Center Partners. The AAAHC-accredited facility includes orthopedics, gastroenterology, plastic surgery, gynecology and general surgery.

Lisa Schriver (Turk's Head Surgery Center, West Chester, Pa.).
Ms. Schriver is the facility administrator at Turk's Head Surgery Center, which was developed with Chester County Hospital. She began with the center in 2005, when it opened, as the clinical director and worked with Blue Chip Surgical Partners during re-syndication. The 12,000-square-foot facility has four operating rooms and one procedure room, and includes ENT, urology, orthopedics, gynecology and ophthalmology. She also has experience as a hospital-based nurse manager.

Patricia Sulaver, RN (Midland Surgical Center, Sycamore, Ill.).
Ms. Sulaver is the administrator at Midland Surgical Center, a joint venture between physician owners, Regent Surgical Health and Kishwaukee Community Hospital. She has more than 25 years of clinical experience, much of that time spent assisting surgeons in the operating room. The surgery center is located on the Midlands Professional Campus and includes two operating suites. In 2009 it was named one of the nation's top surgery centers based on quality, patient satisfaction and financial performance by CTQ Solutions. Specialties at the surgery center include ophthalmology, orthopedics, neurological surgery, podiatry, plastic surgery and urology.

Shirley Thomas (Surgery Center of Mount Dora, Mount Dora, Fla.).
Ms. Thomas is the administrator of Surgery Center of Mount Dora, a joint venture between nine physician owners and Regent Surgical Health, includes hospital partner Leesburg Regional Medical Center. She previously served as administrator of Marietta Surgery Center in Ohio, another Regent facility. The 12,000-square-foot facility was opened in 2009 and includes three operating rooms and one procedure room. Specialties at the surgery center include general surgery, gynecology, gastroenterology and orthopedics.

Bryan Wright (Florida Hospital East – Surgery Center, Orlando).
Mr. Wright has worked for Florida Hospital East – Surgery Center for almost two years, having joined upon the center's inception as its administrator. Prior to his role with Florida Hospital East – Surgery Center, Mr. Wright worked for Richard L. Scott Investments, managing acquisitions, joint ventures and development of urgent care facilities. Mr. Wright says his center has broken several Florida Hospital records in the last year, achieving 100 percent on-time case starts in March 2012, 12.04 room turnover times (in minutes, excluding flip rooms) in February 2012 and 81 percent block time utilization.
