9 spine center openings & partnerships — May 2019

Here are nine spine centers that were opened, announced or involved in partnerships in May 2019:

Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., opened a 27,000-square-foot center dedicated to spine surgeries.

Towson, Md.-based SurgCenter Development is developing a spine ASC in Neenah, Wis., through a joint venture with physicians. The joint venture, Advanced Spine Center of Wisconsin, is expected to occupy the building in June.

Mercy Medical Center opened a minimally invasive spine center and tapped neurosurgeon Frederik A. Pennings, MD, as its leader. The Minimally Invasive Spine Center of New England will operate as part of Springfield, Mass.-based Mercy Medical Center's Neurosurgical Institute.

Tampa (Fla.) Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Center joined Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System.

Englewood, N.J.-based The Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders acquired Bergenfield Surgical Center, a nearby ASC with two operating rooms. Bergenfield Surgical Center comprises three spine surgeons, two orthopedic surgeons, a hand surgeon and a podiatrist.

San Rafael, Calif.-based Marin Specialty Surgery Center is moving to a larger location later this year and plans to offer spine procedures at the new facility.

Southwoods Health is consolidating primary care and pain services at its new, on-campus Pain & Spine Center. Spine, pain management, orthopedic and rheumatology physicians will practice at the Boardman, Ohio-based facility.

Cartersville-based Georgia Pain Spine Center wants to establish an ASC in Marietta, Ga., for nearly $3 million.

Greenbrae, Calif.-based Marin Health Ventures leased 17,280 square feet in a medical office building to build an ASC. After renovating the space, Marin will expand its orthopedic capabilities to include joint replacements and spine surgery.
