Supply Chain Tip of the Week: Consider contracting with a home health agency when implementing total joint replacements

If you’re implementing total joint replacements in your ASC, consider contracting with a home health agency.

Not all patients will need additional post-operative care, but some might. Establishing a home health relationship up front will be beneficial to patients and your facility alike.

Also, remember to establish a relationship with a physical therapy services provider. To support recovery, it’s vital that your patient start moving right away after TJR surgery. That way, you will be supporting patient outcomes by helping to avoid DVT while increasing patient satisfaction.

Furthermore, some ASCs serve out-of-town patients by contracting with a local hotel, where clinicians can monitor recovery more closely.1 Consider if an arrangement like this would be beneficial to your facility.
