An autopsy report shows a Las Vegas woman died from an adverse reaction to local anesthesia after an illegal buttocks enhancement surgery, according to a Forbes report.
According to the report, Clark County Coroner Mike Murphy said Friday that Elena Caro, 42, died from an allergic reaction to tumescent anesthesia, the anesthetic commonly used in cosmetic surgery procedures. Though the death was ruled accidental, Ruben Matallana-Galvas and his wife face charges of murder and practicing medicine without a license in the death of Ms. Caro. They have pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors are reportedly hoping to avoid trial by convincing the defendants to plead guilty to manslaughter.
