Here are six accredited ASCs Becker's ASC Review featured in May:
1. Baton Rouge-based Louisiana Endoscopy Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. It has 27 staff physicians and an adenoma (colon polyp) detection rate higher than the national average. The center's patient satisfaction scores are also above the national average.
2. Jefferson Surgery Center-Blue Bell (Pa.) is accredited by the AAAHC and opened last year. The center has four operating rooms and 31 staff physicians who specialize in orthopedic surgery, pain management, hand surgery, ophthalmology and sports medicine, among other specialties. The ASC is licensed by the state of Pennsylvania, and is affiliated with Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health.
3. The Russellville-based Central Arkansas Surgical Center opened in 2010 and is accredited by the AAAHC. It's a NueHealth partner, and has nine physicians on staff. Physicians at the center specialize in podiatry, orthopedics, pain management and gastroenterology, among other specialties.
4. The Albany (New York) Regional Eye Surgery Center was founded in 2001 and is accredited by the AAAHC. Physicians at the center perform cataract and retina surgery and treat glaucoma. There are 44 physicians on staff.
5. Anchorage, Alaska-based Alpine Surgery Center specializes in orthopedic and pain management procedures. The ASC is accredited by the AAAHC and has 11 physicians on staff. It is licensed by the state of Alaska and Medicare-certified. Joseph Seelig, MD, is the center's medical director.
6. The Abilene (Texas) Endoscopy Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. It was established in 1994 and has two physicians on staff. The center has an adenoma detection rate above the national average.
