AAAHC accredits Bentley University Health Center — 4 insights

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care accredited Waltham, Mass.-based Bentley University Health Center.

Here's what you should know:

1. The health center is one of only four higher education outpatient facilities in the state to receive accreditation.

2. The health center provides medical services to Bentley University's full-time students.

3. Margaret Fitzgerald, MSN, oversaw Bentley's survey preparations. She said, "As a manager, I knew we were running a tight, safe operation, but using evidence-based guidelines provides another level of accountability. This is critically important because for many college students it is the first time they are navigating health services or going through an illness without a family member. It's our job to provide support and education so students can be certain of the quality care they receive."

4. The accreditation is valid for three years.
