ClearHealth Quality Institute launches 1st ATA-endorsed Telemedicine Accreditation Program — 4 insights

ClearHealth Quality Institute, an independent healthcare accrediting body, developed new telemedicine standards to replace the American Telemedicine Association's accreditation program.

Here are four insights.

1. CHQI began accepting applicants for its Telemedicine Accreditation Program.

2. The program has five core standards categories: business requirements, professional oversight, quality and patient safety, clinical workflows and risk management. It covers consumer to provider, provider to consumer and provider to provider delivery models.

3. The committee vetted the TAP standards through a public comment period and beta test cycle.

4. ATA and CHQI's joint venture to develop new telemedicine accreditation standards was announced in 2017. The partnership repositioned ATA's Accreditation Program for Online Patient Consultations as the Telemedicine Accreditation Program, to be managed and expanded by CHQI.
