The Joint Commission awards TriStar Hendersonville 2-year total joint certification

TriStar Hendersonville (Tenn.) Medical Center received The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement Certification, the Tennessean reports.

Three highlights:

1. During an Oct. 19, 2018, onsite review, The Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with national disease-specific care standards and total hip and total knee replacement surgery requirements.

2. Surveyors also assessed clinical practice guidelines and performance measures.

3. Achieving the two-year certification was a coordinated effort among the same-day surgery nursing team, anesthesia team, rehab team, orthopedic surgeons and other service areas, according to Matt Rose, MD, orthopedic surgery committee physician champion.

"TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center has thoroughly demonstrated a high level of care for patients receiving total hip and total knee replacement," said The Joint Commission's Patrick Phelan, executive director of hospital business development.
