Mark Pelletier, RN, accepted new responsibilities at The Joint Commission and will now serve as chief nursing officer.
Here's what you should know:
1. Mr. Pelletier will continue serving as COO.
2. He was trained as a nurse, following in his father's footsteps. He attended Normal-based Illinois State University Mennonite School of Nursing and Chicago-based DePaul School of Nursing.
3. Mr. Pelletier will lead the 28-member Nursing Advisory Council for the first time in September. The group RNs in leadership positions nationwide advises on issues affecting patient care and the practice environment.
4. He plans on communicating with The Joint Commission-accredited and certified organizations about issues such as working while fatigued, workplace violence prevention and second victim syndrome.
