The Joint Commission cuts requirements for telehealth services by 25%

Thirty of The Joint Commission's elements of performance for ambulatory healthcare accreditation will no longer apply to telehealth surgical and non-surgical settings beginning July 1.

The Joint Commission decided it was unnecessary to apply certain requirements, such as ones for infection prevention and control, to those telehealth settings, as they typically do not involve direct patient contact.

Here are the requirements that will no longer apply to telehealth services.

13. EM.02.02.13, EPs 1-9
14. EM.02.02.15, EPs 1-9
15. EM.03.01.03, EP 2

16. IC.01.01.01, EP 3
