Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania has announced it will launch a new plan to save money for employers and insured employees, according to a Times-Tribune report.
The plan, called AffordaBlue, aims to keep healthcare funds in the northeastern Pennsylvania region, according to the report. Insurance company officials estimate that the region spends approximately $1.5 billion on healthcare services annually.
The AffordaBlue plan would let customers choose from providers in three tiers. Tier 1 would offer care at a lower cost than Blue Cross NEPA, and consumers receive lower deductibles and lower co-pays than providers in Tier 2 and Tier 3.
