The California Division of Workers' Compensation has issued an update to its ambulatory surgery center fee schedule, and previously proposed reductions in reimbursement for ASCs have been delayed, according to a news release from the California Ambulatory Surgery Association.
In the new fee schedule, ASC reimbursement remains at 122 percent of the CMS HOPD fee schedule. The DWC had initially proposed reducing ASC reimbursement to 122 percent of the CMS ASC fee schedule, which would have resulted in a 40-60 percent reduction in reimbursement for ASCs. The DWC then proposed cutting reimbursement to 100 percent of the CMS HOPD fee schedule, an approximately 20 percent reduction from current ASC reimbursement.
But DWC has elected to delay implementing the proposed changes, which CASA attributed to the efforts of its leadership and members.
"It is very important that we remain diligent as the DWC has been very clear that they are seeking to find savings in the system and feel that the ASC community is part of that savings plan," CASA stated in the release.
