Ambulatory surgery centers enrolling in the Medicare program for the first time, revalidating their Medicare enrollment or adding a new practice location will have to pay CMS a $505 fee beginning March 25, according a report from the ASC Association in its ASCA Government Affairs Update.
The fee is intended to help cover expenses associated with increased fraud and abuse screening by the government.
It is mandated by the healthcare reform law, according to the ASCA.
ASCs can pay the fee via the government payment website at www.pay.gov.
For more information, ASCs can contact Jonathan Beal of the ASCA at jbeal@ascassociation.org.
