Here's where elective procedures are being postponed

Hospitals nationwide are postponing elective procedures as COVID-19 surges are reaching record highs. 

Here are states where elective procedures are being postponed:

Alabama:

Boaz-based Marshall Medical Centers is postponing outpatient procedures beginning Aug. 11, CBS affiliate News 19 reported. 

Huntsville and Madison Hospitals postponed both inpatient and outpatient elective surgeries, Advance Local reported Aug. 9. 

Mobile Infirmary is rescheduling any elective procedures requiring an overnight stay, CBS affilaite WKRG reported Aug. 10. 

Arkansas:

Little Rock-based CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs is postponing elective procedures, ABC affiliate KATV reported Aug. 4 

California: 

Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital has postponed some nonemergent procedures, North Bay Business Journal reported Aug. 13.

Fairfield-based NorthBay Healthcare suspended elective surgeries, North Bay Business Journal reported Aug. 11.

Florida:

Many hospitals and health systems in Florida have postponed elect ive surgeries as COVID-19 surges throughout the state.  

Here are a few examples:

Naples-based NCH Healthcare System postponed elective surgeries and relocated some to its ASC. 

Lakeland Regional Health is temporarily postponing elective surgeries that require an inpatient stay, CBS affiliate WTSP reported Aug. 10.

Baptist Health in Jacksonville asked surgeons to delay elective surgeries that require an overnight stay.

Georgia:

Brunswick-based Southeast Georgia Health System postponed some elective surgeries, News4Jax reported Aug. 2

Macon-based Atrium Health Navicent is postponing procedures that require hospitalization admission after the procedure, CBS affilaite WMAZ reported Aug. 10.

Hawaii:

The Queen's Health Systems in Honolulu are rescheduling nonemergency surgeries.

Idaho:

Boise-based St. Luke’s Health System will temporarily halt certain surgeries that require an overnight hospital stay, Idaho Statesman reported Aug. 11. 

Iowa:

Des Moines-based Blank Children's Hospital is temporarily suspending scheduled nonemergent surgeries, We Are Iowa reported Aug. 16.

Louisiana:

Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge temporarily halted nonurgent surgeries.

New Orleans-based LCMC Health also paused elective surgeries indefinitely beginning July 26.

Mississippi:

Mississippi health officials ordered licensed hospitals in the state to delay certain elective procedures that require overnight hospitalization beginning Aug. 1.

Montana:

The Kalispell Logan Health medical center began delaying nonemergent procedures until the hospital is back to normal capacity, NBC Montana reported Aug. 17. 

Nebraska:

Omaha-based Nebraska Medical Center is reducing inpatient surgeries Aug. 30, according to the Associated Press. The hospital is not limiting surgeries at its outpatient facilities. 

Lincoln-based Bryan Health is postponing certain nonemergent surgeries that require an overnight stay, have not already been scheduled and can safely be postponed for 30 days, Lincoln Journal Star reported Aug. 19. 

Nevada:

Las Vegas-based Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center paused adult inpatient nonemergent procedures, ABC affiliate KTNV reported Aug. 11. 

North Carolina:

Rocky Mount-based Nash UNC Health Care has postponed nonemergent procedures that require an overnight stay, Rocky Mount Telegram reported Aug. 25. 

Ohio:

Columbus-based OhioHealth paused nonemergent surgeries that require an overnight stay, NBC affiliate WCMH reported Aug. 26. 

Oklahoma: 

Outpatient care facilities in Oklahoma are delaying nonemergent procedures because of rising COVID-19 cases and the inability to find hospital beds for more serious surgeries, ABC affiliate KTUL reported Aug. 13. 

Mercy Health Ardmore's local hospital began canceling nonemergent inpatient surgeries, The Daily Ardmoreite reported Aug. 17. 

Oregon:

St. Charles Health Care in Bend is delaying elective surgeries and procedures, according to ABC affiliate KATU.

South Carolina:

Georgetown-based Tidelands Health and Conway Medical Center have temporarily halted inpatient elective surgeries, ABC affiliate WPDE 15 reported July 13.  

Tennessee:

Nashville-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center's adult hospital is rescheduling surgeries that can be delayed amid a rise in COVID-19 patients.

Texas:

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has asked hospitals to voluntarily delay elective procedures in an Aug. 9 letter to the Texas Hospital Association. 

Houston-based Harris Health has begun delaying elective procedurses, NBC affiliate KPRC 2 reported Aug. 10. 

Utah:

Murray-based Intermountain Healthcare is delaying nonemergent surgery cases, Deseret News reported Aug. 31.

Virginia:

Charlottesville-based University of Virginia Health System is temporarily postponing some nonemergent surgeries, according to CBS19 News.

Washington:

Renton-based Providence Health Care is postponing elective procedures at its Sacred Heart Medical Center and Holy Family Hospital, The Spokesman Review reported Aug. 10.

Providence Health Care is halting all nonemergent surgeries and procedures at Spokane-based Sacred Heart Medical Center and Holy Family Hospital, The Spokesman Review reported Aug. 10.
