ASC management company Pinnacle III outlined how ASCs can stay compliant with CMS' requirements for safe medication practices.
They are:
1. Make sure pharmacy program is compliant with state regulations. A designated staff member should oversee this.
2. Track when medications are ordered and when they are received.
3. Emphasize to staff that single-dose medications should be used right after opening, on one patient only, and discarded.
