California ASC hits 1,000 robotic surgeries milestone

Physicians at the Tustin, Calif.-based miVIP Orange County Multispecialty Surgery Center performed the 1,000th robotic surgery this month.

Surgeons used the robotic da Vinci Xi Surgical System to perform minimally invasive gynecology, hernia, ankle and other surgeries.

The ASC also adopted da Vinci's SureForm 60 surgical stapler for bariatric surgeries. The stapler improves surgical precision and reduces the risk of tissue damage.

"This robotic technology takes laparoscopic surgery to the next level, allowing for incisions no bigger than a dime to minimize damage to the tissues surrounding the surgical site," said Orly Benyaminy, vice president of miVIP West Coast. For patients undergoing surgery, this means a lower risk of complications, less pain, a shorter recovery time and the best possible outcome."
