NJAASC completes first SSI benchmarking survey

The New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgical Centers recently completed its first New Jersey specific benchmarking survey focusing on surgical site infections.

More than 80 member centers participated in the survey. Due to the CDC definition of SSIs, the survey excluded gastroenterology centers.

However, NJAASC intends to follow-up this survey with another tailored for GI centers.
This survey comes on the heels of NJAASC's Inaugural Infection Control Conference, which took place Feb. 26 in Kenilworth, N.J., and was in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Health.

"Benchmarking specific to New Jersey has long been an objective of NJAASC, so we are excited to have conducted the first of what we plan to be many such surveys," said NJAASC.president Jeff Shanton. "Our objective is to share information with our member centers, to better help them assess their own outcomes as part of a commitment to continuous improvement and meeting the highest quality and safety standards."
