Access MediQuip, a national provider of surgical implant management solutions, has announced the appointment of Prakash Patel, MD, to CEO.
Dr. Patel currently serves as the company's chief operating and chief clinical officer. He brings more than 14 years of healthcare experience to the CEO position, including operations, product development, network, alliances, acquisitions and strategy.
Dr. Patel replaces outgoing CEO Tim Hargarten who will continue to serve as a member of AMQ's board of directors.
"On behalf of AMQ's board of directors, I am very pleased that Dr. Patel will be leading the company going forward," said Steve Cosler, chairman of the board of AMQ, in a news release. "He will continue to build on the progress the company has made under Tim Hargarten's leadership, positioning the company for continued growth and leadership in this important and emerging specialty health sector of surgical implant management."
Dr. Patel joined AMQ from Magellan Health Services, where he served as chief corporate development officer. He also led operations at Magellan's National Imaging Associates. Prior to Magellan, Dr. Patel held positions as CEO of Imericius Healthcare, managing director of Internet Healthcare Group and served as a vice president of Scheer and Company.
