Scotland County Hospital has opened a new surgery center in Memphis, Mo., according to a Heartland Connection report.
The surgery center will help lead the way in surgical advancements for patient care in the region, according to the report. The previous surgery suite had served the hospital well for over 40 years, but new technology, new procedures and greater volumes necessitated a new facility.
The hospital has also added a new general surgeon, Keith Thomae, MD, who has previous experience owning and operating his own surgery center. The new facility will make it easier for physicians to treat outpatients because they will not have to enter the hospital.
