Key Questions for Satisfaction Surveys of ASC Employees, Physicians

An ASC should survey employee and physician satisfaction yearly, asking respondents to choose a rating for each question and giving them space to write in comments, says Brian Brown, regional vice president of operations at Meridian Surgical Partners. He provides some key questions to consider for each type of survey.

Employee satisfaction survey questions

- How satisfying is your work?
- How easy is it to communicate?
- Does your job make good use of your skills?
- Rate your supervisor's decision-making.
- Do you feel you have a secure job?
- What changes should the ASC make to stay competitive?
- What is the one thing you like best about working at your ASC?
- How satisfied are you with your ASC?
- What are one or two things that could be done to improve employee satisfaction?
- Do you have any suggestions for strategies to improve employee satisfaction?

Physician satisfaction survey questions
- How effective is the business office?
- How easy is it to schedule a case?
- How available is the OR?
- Do procedures start on time?
- How quick are OR turnover times?
- Is necessary equipment easily available?
- What is the quality of the equipment?
- Is RN staffing adequate?
- Is the nursing staff knowledgeable and experienced?
- Is staff morale high?
- What is the quality of the care delivered by the nursing staff in pre-op, OR and post-op?
- What is the quality of the anesthesia services?
- What is the quality of the administrative staff?
- Is there a department or a staff member you'd particularly like to comment on?
- Do you have any overall positive or negative comments to make?
- If you gave the ASC a low rating, please let us know what we can do to improve.
