Forty-three percent of physicians who save more than $2,000 per month in a tax-deferred account are in the 50 year to 64 year age range, according to Medscape's Physician Wealth and Debt Report 2018.
Here are 10 statistics on how much physicians save. Medscape surveyed 20,329 physicians across more than 29 specialties.
Amount put into a tax-deferred retirement or college savings account each month:
1. More than $2,000: 33 percent
2. $1,001 to $2,000: 29 percent
3. $501 to $1,000: 17 percent
4. $1 to $500: 9 percent
5. I currently don't do this on a regular basis: 13 percent
Amount put into taxable savings account each month:
6. More than $2,000: 21 percent
7. $1,001 to $2,000: 15 percent
8. $501 to $1,000: 16 percent
9. $1 to $500: 16 percent
10. I currently don't do this on a regular basis: 32 percent
