Urology had the second highest percentage of cases with subsequent hospital visits, while ophthalmology had the lowest in both years.
"Subsequent hospital visits" includes inpatient admissions, observation services and emergency department visits, and excludes cases related to trauma or mental health services. Data is from a MedPAC analysis of Medicare physician, hospital outpatient and hospital inpatient claims.
