How much do physicians earn in Texas?

Medscape dove into earnings for physicians practicing in Texas, comparing primary care and specialist salaries, net worth and other factors to physicians nationwide.

Medscape surveyed nearly 20,000 physicians to compile the report.

Three details:

1. Specialist physicians in Texas earn $343,000, while primary care physicians earn $242,000. Nationally, specialist physicians earn $341,000 on average, and primary care physicians earn $237,000.

2. Forty-three percent of physicians in Texas report having a net worth of more than $1 million, compared to 44 percent nationally.

3. Fifty-two percent of specialists and 56 percent of primary care physicians in Texas said they feel fairly compensated. Nationally, 54 percent of primary care physicians and specialists said they feel fairly compensated.
