Physician compensation for 22 specialties increased in 2018 — Here's how much

Psychiatrists, plastic surgeons and physiatrists saw the greatest increases in compensation this year, according to Medscape's Compensation Report 2018

Meanwhile, compensation decreased for neurology, pathology, diabetes and endocrinology, otolaryngology, urology and general surgery physicians.

Here is the percent change in compensation for 28 specialties.

1. Psychiatry: 16
2. Plastic surgery: 14
3. Physical medicine and rehabilitation: 13
4. Oncology: 10
5. Critical care: 9
6. Rheumatology: 9
7. Anesthesiology: 6
8. Allergy and immunology: 6
9. Nephrology: 5
10. OB/GYN: 5
11. Pediatrics: 5
12. Family medicine: 5
13. Gastroenterology: 4
14. Ophthalmology: 3
15. Pulmonary medicine: 3
16. Emergency medicine: 3
17. Cardiology: 3
18. Internal medicine: 2
19. Dermatology: 2
20. Orthopedics: 2
21. Infectious diseases: 1
22. Radiology: 1
23. Neurology: -2
24. Pathology: -2
25. Diabetes and endocrinology: -4
26. Otolaryngology: -4
