MDLinx pulled data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics 2017 State Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates to rank which states have the fewest physicians.

Here are the 15 states with the fewest number of active physicians per 100,000 residents:

1. Mississippi: 186.1

2. Idaho: 192.6

3. Wyoming: 199.0

4. Nevada: 200.1

5. Arkansas: 203.7

6. Oklahoma: 205.3

7. Utah: 209.4

8. Iowa: 211.4

9. Alabama: 212.4

10. Kansas: 219.4

11. Texas: 219.4

12. Georgia: 225.2

13. Indiana: 226.5

14. South Carolina: 227.1

15. Kentucky: 228.9
