The Association of American Medical Colleges' biennial report showed an increase in physicians working in the U.S., as well as an increase of medical school students.
Three report details:
1. In 2018, there were 277.8 active physicians per 100,000 people in the U.S., an increase from 271.6 percent in 2016.
2. Between 2008 and 2019, students enrolled in MD-granting schools increased 24.7 percent.
3. In 2018, 35.8 percent of physicians in the U.S. were female, up from 34.6 percent in 2016.
