What percent of physicians think they're fairly compensated?

Medscape released its 2018 Medscape Physician Compensation Report examining a variety of compensation-related factors throughout the industry.

Overall 55 percent of physicians believe they're fairly compensated.

  • Emergency medicine: 74 percent
  • Pulmonary medicine: 70 percent
  • Dermatology: 70 percent
  • Public health and preventive medicine: 69 percent
  • Psychiatry: 68 percent
  • Pathology: 67 percent
  • Oncology: 66 percent
  • Radiology: 65 percent
  • Cardiology: 65 percent
  • Anesthesiology: 65 percent
  • Infectious disease: 65 percent
  • Rheumatology: 63 percent
  • Otolaryngology: 62 percent
  • Family medicine: 61 percent
  • Neurology: 60 percent
  • Nephrology: 59 percent
  • OB/GYN: 58 percent
  • Gastroenterology: 57 percent
  • Critical Care: 56 percent
  • Ophthalmology: 54 percent
  • General surgery: 54 percent
  • Pediatrics: 53 percent
  • Orthopedics: 51 percent
  • Internal medicine: 51 percent
  • Urology: 51 percent
  • Plastic surgery: 50 percent
