8 Recent Moves by Gastroenterologists

Here are eight gastroenterologists who recently accepted new positions.

1. Sanjay Sikka, MD, will be joining the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine, as a practicing gastroenterologist with Central Maine Gastroenterology. Prior to this, Dr. Sikka completed his fellowship training in advanced endoscopy at Chicago-based Northwestern Memorial Hospital and at the University of Chicago, according to a report from the Sun Journal.

2. Kevin Kearney, MD, has recently joined Beaufort (S.C.) Memorial Hospital as a gastroenterologist on the hospital's medical staff. Dr. Kearney opened the Beaufort Memorial Center for Digestive Diseases at Port Royal (S.C.) Center. Additionally, he will be making himself available to patients at Beaufort Memorial Bluffton Medical Services, according to a report from The Island Packet.

3. Ami Naik, MD, will be returning to her hometown to practice medicine at the Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn. Dr. Naik completed her post-graduate fellowship and residency training in categorical internal medicine at the St. Louis University Hospital and later completed a gastroenterology/hematology fellowship at UT Memphis, according to a report by The Paris Post-Intelligencer.

4. Bhavesh Shah, MD, will be working in the Division of Gastroenterology at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, a Caritas Health Care facility located in Boston. Dr. Shah completed training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy at UMass Memorial Medical Center and completed gastroenterology training at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to a report from Wicked Local.

5. Four gastroenterologists have opened a new practice called Gastroenterology Consultants, located in Cookeville, Tenn. The new practice is part of Physician Associates of Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The gastroenterologists are Maan Anbari, MD; Phillip Bertram, MD; Joyce Bremer, MD; and Jeff Crosier, MD, according to a report from The Herald-Citizen.

6. Ian Renner, MD, has joined he active medical staff at Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital in San Andreas, Calif. He previously was professor of medicine at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, where he practiced for 20 years, according to a report on ThePineTree.net.

7. Hubert Nietsch, MD, is now the director of pancreato-biliary services of Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center's department of gastroenterology where he will also serve as associate professor of medicine. He previously served as chief and division head of gastroenterology at St. Elisabeth Medical Center in Halle, Germany, according to a news release from Albany Medical Center.

8. Xinjun Cindy Zhu, MD, has been chosen to be an assistant professor of medicine in the division of gastroenterology and assistant professor of cardiovascular science at Albany (N.Y.) Medical College. Dr. Zhu is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, according to a news release from Albany Medical Center.
