The GI practice investing in weight loss

Gastroenterology practices are always looking for new ways to invest and expand care for their patients.

As patients become more interested in weight loss and the popularity of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists such as Ozempic grows, GI practices may be able to expand care to focus on such services.

One GI leader told Becker's that his practice is focusing on investing in new services this year, including weight loss services, to stay competitive and maintain fair compensation rates for practitioners.

Sap Sinha. COO of Allied Digestive Health (West Long Branch, N.J.): The biggest investment we are making is in expanding our ancillary services for our practice, such as pathology, weight loss, research and data monetization. We keep expanding the services offered to our patients to become more comprehensive gastroenterology providers and provide more avenues for our physicians to maintain their compensation as reimbursements get squeezed.
