The new ASC developments making headlines in 2024

Healthcare development is already in full swing for 2024, with ASCs popping up from coast to coast. 

Here are 12 new ASCs that have already opened or are underway in 2024: 

1. Rockville Centre, N.Y.-based Catholic Health opened an ambulatory care center in Riverhead, N.Y. The 15,600-square-foot facility offers services including primary care, neurosurgery and spine, pediatric orthopedics and spine, pain management, podiatry and urology. 

2. Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist broke ground on a $78 million ASC in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Cloverdale Outpatient Surgery Center will offer services including general surgery, otolaryngology, orthopedic, urology and plastic surgery. 

3. Kyle, Texas-based Plum Creek Surgery Center has signed a 10,500-square-foot lease in Munster, Ind., and plans to open a new facility in the fall. 

4. A 5,377-square-foot pain ASC is opening in a newly constructed Magnolia (Texas) Medical Specialists building. 

5. New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System opened a new outpatient clinic in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens.

6. The Portsmouth, N.H., city planning board approved a three-story medical office building with an ASC at the former Pease Air Force Base. 

7. St. John's Episcopal Hospital has debuted a new ambulatory clinic in Far Rockaway, N.Y., inside its four-story clinical learning center. 

8. Houston, Mo.-based Texas County Memorial Hospital is in the final stages of completing a new surgery center set to open in February. 

9. Cincinnati-based Christ Hospital Medical Center-Liberty Township, a part of the Christ Hospital Health Network, launched a $20 million expansion project that includes adding a new surgery center and medical office building.

10. Lafayette-based Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists plans to open the practice's first ASC, dedicated to orthopedic and spine care in the first quarter of 2025.

11. Bel Air-based The University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health announced a $260 million growth plan that includes building a new, 30,000-square-foot ASC. 

12. Kelsey-Seybold broke ground on a 125,000-square-foot medical facility with a planned ASC adjacent to its Katy, Texas, facility.
