David Hinkle, MD, was named the Oliver and Carroll Dabezies Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology, according to an Oct. 13 press release from Tulane University in New Orleans.
Dr. Hinkle was previously chief resident at Tulane's medical school and is coming back from Morgantown-based West Virginia University School of Medicine, where he was an associate professor, the release said.
His clinical and research interests include complex vitreoretinal surgery and vaccine-induced ocular inflammatory disease, the release said. He's also authored or co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and book chapters.
"I am thrilled to return to Tulane and look forward to leading the department in advancing the mission of patient care, education and research," Dr. Hinkle said in a statement. "Tulane ophthalmology is well positioned for growth that will benefit the residents of New Orleans."
