Ophthalmic biopharmaceutical company TearSolutions has established a strategic advisory board, appointed five opinion leaders to its medical advisory board and promoted James Cook to chief development officer.
TearSolutions is developing a therapeutic treatment for dry eye disease, Lacripep, according to a March 7 press release.
Mr. Cook has been with TearSolutions since 2020 after spending 30 years developing eye care products. He has experience in lab management and quality control.
The five new medical advisory board appointments include Deepinder Dhaliwal, MD; Nancy McNamara, OD, PhD; Kelly Nichols, OD, PhD; John Sheppard, MD, and Joseph Tauber, MD.
Dr. Dhaliwal is a professor of ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is also director and founder of the Center for Integrative Eye Care and vice chair for communications and wellness at UPMC Eye Center in Pittsburgh.
Dr. McNamara is a professor and associate dean for academic affairs at the University of California Berkeley Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry and Vision Science.
Dr. Nichols is the dean of the University of Alabama at Birmingham school of optometry. She is also a leading expert in dry eye disease.
Dr. Sheppard is the mid-Atlantic medical director of Eye Care Partners. He is also a senior and founding partner of Virginia Eye Consultants in Norfolk.
Dr. Tauber is a private practice ophthalmologist with experience in clinical trials research and business consultation.
