University of California San Francisco's department of orthopedic surgery partnered with CloudMedx to develop a platform to create artificial intelligence models for improving patient outcomes after joint replacement surgery, Compelo reported.
Here are the key details to know:
1. The research will focus on how patient-generated healthcare data from consumer-grade wearable sensors can predict clinical outcomes following knee and hip replacement surgery.
2. Based on data collected from wearable devices and patient medical records, the researchers plan to develop a new class of algorithms and sensor data that can be used to predict how patients might recover after surgery.
3. CloudMedx is a clinical AI platform designed to give real time clinical insights to improve patient outcomes.
4. "To give us a perspective on how patients are doing with predictive analytics, we partnered with CloudMedx to handle the large data sets that will be needed," Stefano Bini, MD, project leader and orthopedic surgeon told Compelo.
