Three spine-focused ASCs opened in October and November:

1. Silver Spine & Neurological Center's ASC in McKinney, Texas, is nearing completion. The ASC features four operating rooms, one procedure room, five private recovery rooms, two nurse stations, a pharmacy, kitchen and dining areas and support spaces. Z Constructors is putting the finishing touches on the project.

2. Kern Singh, MD, and his team completed the first minimally invasive spine surgeries Nov. 7 at the new Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush ASC in Oak Brook, Ill. Four patients had lumbar decompressions and were sent home two hours after surgery. The ASC has equipment for outpatient lumbar and cervical laminectomies, artificial disc replacements and fusions.

3. A new three-story medical facility in Mount Pleasant, S.C., includes a spine surgery center. Occupying about 70,000 square feet, the new East Cooper Medical Offices development is an expansion of East Cooper Medical Center. Mount Pleasant-based East Cooper Medical Center is a 140-bed acute care hospital affiliated with Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare.
