Towson, Md.-based SurgCenter Development has continued expanding its outpatient complex spine program in 2019.
Five things to know:
1. SurgCenter's outpatient partners performed more than 2,200 complex spine cases in 2018, compared to around 1,000 in 2014.
2. More than 260 physicians and 102 facilities are involved in SurgCenter's complex spine program.
3. The company is developing a spine ASC in Neenah, Wis., through a joint venture with physicians.
4. There are seven keys to success with an outpatient spine program, according to SurgCenter: patient selection, patient satisfaction, equipment and supply negotiation, discharge planning, scheduling flexibility, efficiency, and commitment from surgeon partners.
5. SurgCenter has negotiated implant costs for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, lumbar fusions, and total disc replacement procedures.
