Access MediQuip, a national provider of surgical implant management solutions, has announced CEO Prakash Patel, MD, appeared on a televised show featured on-site at the America's Health Insurance Plans 2011 annual conference.
The program aired June 16 and was titled, "Surgical Implant Management: Delivering Cost Savings, Creating Utilization Visibility, Enhancing Safety and Increasing Access to Medical Devices," according to an Access MediQuip news release.
The program aimed to educate the audience on the major trends in the surgical implantable device market, describe the challenges facing health care payors and offer actionable strategies to overcome them.
"One of the last high-cost, unmanaged frontiers for payers today is surgical implant management," said Dr. Patel, in the release. "It is estimated in reports that implants costs are growing at a rate of over 8 percent year over year. There is little if any visibility into these costs or what the outcomes are once the surgery is complete. During the AHIP program, I will be talking about some significant opportunities to lower the costs of implantable devices surgeries, while increasing quality and safety for members, payers and their clients."
Content from the program will be featured post-conference in the AHIP Solutions Smartbrief and Hi-Wire newsletters, as well as the innovations center channel of the AHIP Hi-Wire website.
