Ann Castro, BroadJump's vice president of non-acute sales, weighed in the on the top supply chain opportunities and challenges for ASCs.
Ms. Castro shared the following tip with Becker's ASC Review:
"Surgery centers can lack the bandwidth to negotiate better pricing. Not often do we see a dedicated materials manager in a surgery center. The person responsible for supply chain typically has many other responsibilities. Most materials managers don't have the time to allocate to mining data and comparing item pricing to cut costs. Instead, surgery centers need to utilize tools that can easily identify areas in need of improvement and point them in the right direction toward decreasing spend. ASCs should focus on items they are having reimbursement challenges with or [items] of high spend, so they can maximize what little time they have."
