Medical product warnings, recalls ASC leaders should watch

Here are six medical product warnings and recalls that Becker's has reported on since Oct. 3 that ASC leader should keep an eye on: 

1. Olympus Corporation issued a Class I recall for its high-flow insufflation unit UHI-4 used to facilitate laparoscopic and endoscopic observation, diagnosis and treatment. 

2. The FDA warned consumers to stop using 26 over-the-counter artificial tear products as they may pose a risk of infection leading to potential blindness.

3. Cardinal Health is notifying customers of incompatibility between syringe pumps and more than 20 million of its Luer-Lock Tip Soft Pack syringes. 

4. Fresenius Medical Care issued a Class I recall for more than 374,000 syringes distributed across the U.S.

5. Smiths Medical, an entity of ICU Medical, is recalling more than 108,000 syringe pumps because a false alarm may sound.

6. Hospira, a New York City-based Pfizer company, recalled two lots of lidocaine and one lot of sodium bicarbonate because vials could contain glass particles.
