Supply Chain Tip of the Week: A logistics management provider can act as an extension of your team, saving time and allowing you to focus on patient care

With the variety of challenges facing the healthcare system today, it is key that providers use logistics management best practices to help alleviate some of the stress that’s being put on them.

The recent Becker’s Healthcare podcast with Emily Gallo, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Cardinal Health™ OptiFreight® Logistics, walks through foundational logistics management best practices and how providers can take advantage of them.

While the best practices she discusses are all important, it’s important to note it takes time and resources to implement them. The responsibility to identify opportunities and then drive change within the organization would fall solely on the healthcare provider if they are not using a logistics management provider.

However, Gallo states in the podcast that, “a logistics management provider can work on behalf of healthcare providers to implement best practices… Through their analytics, tools and insights, they can help drive user compliance by identifying those employees who aren’t shipping through the program (meaning missed savings) and work with the supply chain team to educate those folks. Logistics management providers can also continuously mine data and look for new opportunities to drive efficiency and maximize savings.”
