Women making strides in supply chain leadership

More than a quarter (26 percent) of C-suite and executive-level supply chain roles are now held by women, up from just 19 percent a year ago, according to a July 5 report from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, based on a 2023 Gartner study.

Now, women comprise about 41 percent of the supply chain workforce, up from 39 percent last year.

Executive roles including chief product officer, chief supply chain officer, senior vice president and executive vice president rose from 14 percent women-held in 2018 to 26 percent this year.

Manager and supervisor-level roles are up from 30 percent in 2016 to 34 percent this year.

The study found that only 41 percent of supply chain leaders have implemented workplace flexibility policies, which could be impacting the number of women taking supply chain positions.
