CVS Health completed its acquisition of primary care organization Oak Street Health in an all-cash, $10.6 billion deal. 

Healthcare strategy and advisory firm VMG Health has acquired healthcare consulting firm BSM Consulting.

Debra Fin, administrator of Midland, Mich.-based Great Lakes Bay Surgery & Endoscopy Center, joined Becker's to discuss what will disrupt the ASC industry next. 

Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health and Nashville, Tenn.-based healthcare services company Surgery Partners have signed a collaboration agreement in which Surgery Partners will take over management of Intermountain's existing ASCs in Utah and Idaho and will develop more ASCs in other select markets. 

Columbus-based OhioHealth and Nashville-based healthcare services company Surgery Partners have formed a new company to grow ASC joint ventures across the state of Ohio, according to an April 28 press release sent to Becker's. 

UnitedHealth Group's Optum, parent company of ASC chain SCA Health, is on a spending spree, scooping up physician groups and expanding its portfolio. 

Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente has inked a deal to acquire Geisinger Health and its more than 1,700 physicians. 

Dallas-based United Surgical Partners International is the largest ASC chain by both number of surgery centers and number of physicians. 

Dallas-based United Surgical Partners International is continuing to grow, with $340 million in adjusted earnings in the first quarter, according to an April 25 earnings call from Tenet, USPI's parent company, as transcribed by Seeking Alpha. 

Tenet Healthcare's ASC arm — Dallas-based United Surgical Partners International — is the largest ASC chain in the country by number of physicians. 

The ASC industry is slowly consolidating, and three deals in the last five years point to the different ways ASC chains are growing. 

United Surgical Partners International is an ASC powerhouse. With more than 442 ASCs and 24 surgical hospitals across 35 states, it is the largest network in the country.

Medical office building mergers and acquisitions were up 13.7 percent in the first quarter of 2023 and up 5 percent from the same period last year. 

Echo Real Estate Capital has acquired a 7,550-square-foot medical office building in Morton Grove, Ill., according to an April 13 report from REJournals.
